Copperlight
Firm, low-carbon power for the copper that powers the energy transition.
A 200 MWac solar project with a battery storage option, on the Copperbelt's new frontier, where some of Africa's largest copper mines are seeking firm, low-carbon power.
The project
North-Western Province hosts the mines that will supply the energy transition's copper, and their power demand is growing faster than the grid. Copperlight is designed around corporate offtake: a USD-denominated PPA with an industrial counterparty, wheeled or privately connected. A battery energy storage (BESS) option allows output to be firmed and shaped to the offtaker's load profile rather than the grid's, supporting round-the-clock industrial demand.
